I had a good one. I bought supplies to give the cars a proper wash (buckets, sponges, microfiber towels, car soap, claybar kit, nanowax spray) and gave them some love. Pictured, the gf’s v70 xc that needed a good wash with the vw waiting for its turn. Both are looking real glossy now.

Kinja'd!!!

So what did you all do?

I got home from a week-long vacation visiting friends in San Diego.

Now I’m at work.

And I’m exhausted already.

Fuck.

But I shouldn’t complain.

Still, fuck.

I made bumper brackets for my project. Not quite done yet. I also did some engineering of other things on it, and... I suppose yesterday afternoon I did a bunch of reading and video games.

Mmmm, shiny!

Got the head off the S350 and to the machine shop for hot tanking, volunteered for 6 hours, went to a couple parties, and did a whole bunch of DeFunkifying of the interior of this ex-smoker benz. Sleep took a back seat to everything else, so now I am in major need of a coffee IV drip this morning.

I got a new rear tire and brake shoes on the Rebel. The front tire is good for a few hundred more miles, but I still need to replace the air filter and chain (awaiting delivery.) Still, that did not stop me from getting some “break in” mud on the new tire. Pretty good weekend all things considered.

great weekend!

had friends in from out of town. On set showed up Friday night, which was their 4th wedding anniversary. So we kept it mellow, a friend from intown who knows the couple came over and we all drank, smoked and played some party games. If you never played game of things you really should.

Saturday the ladies went shopping and got their nails done, While I cleaned my smoker and got the house setup for party times round two. Another couple me and the firts one grew up with in came in town to party as well a some other mutual friends. I rocked some split chickens on the smoker and of course did some more smoked mac n cheese. we drank, played some yard games and were mellow. As the sun set we all got down with some Fun guy and spent the night enjoying each others company and laughing till our sides hurt.

Sunday chilled with every one for a bit and then chased them out at round 2:30 and then I didn’t do shit till I went to bed at 9. I mean I watched the 2nd avengers, that was garbage, glad I downloaded it and not went to see it.

Made my 850R look a whole lot better! The front bumper had some massive cracks that a previous owner had fixed with duct tape. The tape was initially red, and blended in pretty well, but it had faded to a weird yellow, and had ruined the paint underneath, making a proper repair much more difficult.

As it so happened, a local Volvo club member was parting out an 850R in the same colour as mine – its bumper was still a bit cracked, but not nearly as badly as mine, and had been repaired with remarkably neat zip-tie drift stitches. Needless to say, I jumped on the deal, and took the opportunity to fix my fog lights, which are thoroughly unpleasant to get to with the bumper in place.

Next step will be to give it a proper wash and polish. The paint is single-stage, and polishes up beautifully, but it fades so quickly that since I have to park on the street, I don’t bother to do so very often.

Nice XC, by the way - the early ones are getting remarkably scarce around my neck of the woods.

nice 850R! The XC is actually the girlfriends, but she loves that car and i’ve certainly got to know the workings of it quite well. Current running tally of work done to it include PCV system refresh, oil cooler line replacement, oil changes, dipstick replacement, coolant tank replacement, a/c clutch shimming, a/c charges, tailgate strut replacement, random broken plastic parts replaced etc. And includes more work to be done including oil pan gasket replacement (not evident in photos: oil stains from the xc marking its spot) and more! But it’s a fun car to work on, especially since the vw behind it is still relatively young.
